Introduction
The majority of non-profit organizations, consulting firms, private sector and governmental agencies are dependent on grant funding for many of their projects and programs. Sometimes individuals or consulting firms are hired solely for this purpose. At other times an existing staff person is called upon to write a grant proposal at relatively short notice. The purpose of this course, as the name implies, is to provide the course participants with all the necessary information and tools needed to successfully write a winning grant proposal for a funding source, like a foundation, a corporation, or a governmental entity.
This course will lead the participant through the process—from designing a project (which many individuals tend to overlook as the first step) to researching funding sources (with web links provided for the major research resources) to the all-important steps of preparing both the preliminary proposal (which is required by some funding sources) and the full proposal.
Finally, the course participants will be able to assemble all supporting documentation and review all proposal paperwork before submission to the funding source. By the time the participants completes the assignments in this course, he or she will know where to look for existing grant programs, have the tools for designing a project, and will have gone through all the necessary steps in completing a full proposal for submission to a funding or donor agency.
